Hello everybody, my name is J.R. Bjornson, and in the stand-up world, I go by Blind Guy Comedy. And if you’re reading this on BlindGuyComedy.com welcome home!
Back in August 2025, I had the chance to try on something that completely changed the way I see the world. They’re called the eSight Go glasses, picture a pair of sleek digital magnifiers disguised as sunglasses, complete with dual OLED displays right in front of your eyes.
When I slipped them on, my life instantly came into focus. I could see my family. I could see my dog. And for the first time in a long time, my world looked clear.

I was able to do things that most people take for granted. I could watch TV with my kids from a normal distance instead of pressing my face right up against the screen. (My poor family usually had to look around my giant head because my left eye is dominant, and, well… I tend to block half the picture!)
Then came the moment that blew my mind, I went to Tim Hortons and read the digital menu for the very first time. You know that “menu decision fatigue” people joke about? I finally understood it. For once, I got to be the indecisive one!
I even pointed out stop signs while driving with my wife. She looked at me and said, “Wait… you can see those?” “Yes!” I said, “I guess I can!”
And get this I could see traffic lights change from red to yellow to green. We even went through the Wendy’s drive-thru, and I peeked into the kitchen. “So that’s what it looks like in there!”
At Tim Hortons, I noticed something I’d never really seen before. People smiling. I turned to my wife and whispered, “They’re smiling at us is that normal?” She laughed and said, “Yeah, J.R., it’s customer service.”
I’d never realized how many people were smiling all this time. I could hear their voices, their accents, their tone but now I could see joy. I could see brown hair, black hair, all these little details of humanity that had been blurry my entire life.
After trying the glasses for five days, I was hooked. It was love at first sight literally. So, I started a GoFundMe with a goal of $8,000 CAD. Thankfully, the company gave me a generous discount, so the new goal dropped to $6,000.
And you know what? We did it.
This community from Red Deer, High Level, Fox Lake, Grande Prairie, Edmonton, Calgary, Lac La Biche, and even as far as Ontario you all showed up. Someone from Russia even donated. The support was unbelievable.
By November 6, we hit our goal. I found out at a friend’s birthday party, actually Jason Steele’s when a gentleman named Dean came up to me and said, “Hey, you made your goal!”
I didn’t believe him. My phone still said $5,032. But then I refreshed the page… and there it was $6,000 raised of $6,000.
I stood there speechless. We did it, together.
To every single person who donated, shared, or showed up thank you.
Special thanks to Conquest Pharmacy Red Deer for donating $500, and to Highland Green RX Remedies Pharmacy for their generous contribution as well.
To Robert P. Harrison your incredible $968 donation on behalf of Beverly Beckley helped us cross the finish line. Beverly, Robert I love you both.
And to the anonymous donors you know who you are thank you for giving without needing credit. That’s a rare kind of kindness.
Thank you to the Hunter family in Grand Prairie Charla, Breanna, Doug, Auntie Jackie and to Papa Kings Canada and others on TikTok for your support online. Every single one of you helped make this dream possible.
In about two weeks, I’ll be receiving my eSight Go glasses. You’ll see (pun intended!) the entire journey documented right here on BlindGuyComedy.com and on the Blind Guy Comedy YouTube channel.
Whenever I post new videos on TikTok, Facebook, or anywhere else, I’ll link them back here so you never miss an update.
If you donated through GoFundMe, I’ll also send monthly email updates nothing spammy, just genuine progress notes straight from me.
From the bottom of my heart thank you. You’ve changed my life in a way words can barely touch.
This isn’t just about glasses. It’s about community, hope, and the kindness of strangers who became part of my story.
I can’t wait to show you what happens next.
This is Blind Guy Comedy, also known as J.R. Bjornson, signing off with a full heart and a clear view of the world for the very first time.
Thank you for everything.
