Tuesday Stories with J.R. Bjornson

This is my passion project. Think of it as an audio autobiography stories from my childhood, some of my favourite memories, and even the tough times that shaped me. Every four episodes or so, I also dive into stand-up comedy.

The idea came from wanting to write my own autobiography one day. I figured if I could spend a year podcasting about my life and lessons learned in my 34 years, I’d have the blueprint for a book.

There’s a fun twist, every episode self destructs after 90 days, so there’s an urgency to listen before it disappears. This show also helps me cover basic bills like power, water, internet, and gas, so in a way, it’s storytelling with purpose. Listeners join my Patreon for just $5.00 Canadian a month for access to all the episodes. The public can listen to the episodes for free wherever you get your podcasts. But people who want to support the show can do so for as little as $5.00 or as much as $11.00 Per Month.

Podcast 2! The Midday Show with J.R. Bjornson

If Tuesday Stories is my memoir, The Midday Show is my coffee break chat. I talk about what’s going on in central Alberta, share observations, and sprinkle in commentary on the news.

Some episodes are lighthearted, others more thoughtful. Recently, I talked about how Girl Guides of Canada is no longer sending members to the U.S. because of rising border tensions, something that hits home because my wife has family there we’re too nervous to visit right now. I’ve also shared thoughts about reaching out to the people who’ve influenced us, whether it’s a celebrity or a family member, while they’re still here to hear it.

The Midday Show feels like an extension of my old radio days. Part local events, part personal reflection, and always aiming to be that friendly voice you can turn to on a tough day. Unlike Tuesday Stories, all episodes stay online for free thanks to Spotify, though I do have a “Buy Me a Coffee” link for anyone who wants to help keep the lights on.

Why Podcasting Works for Me Right Now

Podcasting brings me joy without the pressure of perfection. Unlike YouTube, where I felt the constant need to edit and perform, podcasting is just me, my mic, and a conversation.

I used to post on YouTube daily, but I realized I was oversharing and giving away motivational material I plan to use professionally as a speaker in 2026. So I removed over 2,600 videos, keeping just a few. I’ll still post occasionally, but it’s no longer my main focus.

I do still use my YouTube channel to promote my GoFundMe for life-changing glasses that could restore 80% of my vision. We’re officially past halfway at $3,440 raised out of my $6,000 goal, with $2,560 to go!

So that’s what I’ve been up to while I take a break from open mic. Telling stories, sharing thoughts, and connecting with people in a different way.

If you ever want to listen, just search for Tuesday Stories with J.R. Bjornson and The Midday Show with J.R. Bjornson wherever you get your podcasts.

Only if you want more J.R. in your life, of course.
